As i can see it wasn't chrome so it wasn't the big versions of the PS3s, versions like the 40 gig and the other little versions of the fat you could activate this fan by holding the eject button as you turn the power button on the back to the ON position...

hey ps3s suk compared to 360 i had 4 ps3s and 1 xbox 360
i had to give them all my ps3s and i have had the xbox for 2 years now

This is actually a good thing. If the fans speed is higher, its moving more air out of the back. If you didn't notice the ps3 gets very hot within 4 min at just bein idle. So it is not broken learn we pc gamers can controll the fan speed of our graphics cards to prevent overheating, yes it may sound like a mini jet but we know its not overheating. I also have a ps3 btw.

it was only 6 months old so it was under warranty and both were free. & I i've had the second one for like 2 months now......still workin like a charm.

Body, the ps3 has block the ventilation exit, put it in a ventilated area, ps3 has a flow air detecction too, went the intelegent circuit does not detec a ramp of cooling degres it satr to run the fan faster, put it aan area well ventilated, i hope can you take me advice, i am electronics engineer, bye
