You cut out the only part worth watching in this scene! Where Hector says, "You speak of war as if it's a game, but how many wifes wait at Troy's gates for husbands they'll never see again." Hector was great in this movie, the most honourable and admirable character, apparently the only humanised character that actually had a conscience...Douchebaggish Achilles -.-

@ithas89 For the homeric thought the origin from a god is not so important as we may think, because the divine & the mortal world are close to one another.

In fact, there are a lot of other warriors in the Iliad who come from gods superior to Thetis, but they are not capable of fighting against Achilles.

E.g. Aeneas is Aphrodite's son and Eudorus is Hermes' son; the 2nd one is one of Achilles' lieutenants. Both were great gods (they were in the dodecatheon), while Thetis was just a nereid.

i love how achilles is so interested of his name to be remembered after his death.... i agree on that with him... we will all live, we will all die and we will not even choose the way to do so... but how many of us will be remembered, and for what? will they be remembered for something good like scientists ex. Einstein or for something bad like treason ex. Judas? it's not enough only your name to be remembered, but also to be for a good reason and not as an example to avoid.

@tomtom34b this is a movie...the truth is that Achilles was a DEMI-GOD, no one could defeat him, Hector had no chance to win against him, in every kind of situation or battle-type, HE was simply the best warrior in the entire world, born to fight and win all his battles, until his point of weakness was revelead. THAT's how it is, Hector was a great warrior, but nothing compared to son of Thetis

@Mordor6121512 well not 100% truth, the arrow which landed on his heel make him suffer the most, you can see by the reaction. and even brad pitt said that this is the moment that will be never accepted by him because it show exactly opposite thing. as you said he should me just like others in movie but with the scene im talking about they did just mess things up and we dont really know (atlkeast i dont) how to interpret it correctly. sorry for my english

These are the parts that truly make Achilles look like a badass, even more so than when he's fighting. "I could kill yo right now without even breaking a sweat, but I've killed enough of you for one day. Go home, fuck your wife, get drunk and tomorrow, I will kill you."
