Outside's Justin Nyberg reviews the Patagonia Fitzroy Down Hoody, a great high-end, technical, lightweight, classic down jacket.

  • This was the worse jacket I ever bought! The fit was sloppy & tailoring poor quality. Hood is super lofty & warm but doesn't have a cord cinch system at the chin so the hood flops around & gets in the way when not used. The main zipper & zipper track is tiny & flimsy. I endured lots of zipper snags which is not cool when trying to quickly zip up against the cold w/ gloves on. The thin outer shell didn't last more that a few months. I ended up getting a Rab Neutrino that I'm happy with!

  • @ast453000 The DAS Parka is 1,000 times better! DAS is warm in rain, sleet and snow. The Down jackets only work in dry weather or when used under a waterproof shell.

I've worn a DAS Parka to -23 and lower and didn't feel cold at all.

  • How does it compare to the DAS parka?

  • Great jacket, although I stick with Primaloft myself when on the trail.
