Jon Spencer Blues Explosion performing "Afro" on "The Word" on UK TV Channel 4, in 1994. This has long been one of my cherished VHS tapes! I think this was during their second UK tour, maybe early 1994. Shame they don't really get the props now, but like Mark Lamarr says on this clip at this time they really were the best live act around

For some reason lately, I decided, entirely out of the blue to look up some Jon Spencer Blues Explosion (I think it might have been watching Beavis and Butthead talking over "Dang" on a DVD, thought the song itself sounded cool).

Total fucking brilliance! I used to watch my VHS recording of this repeatedly...love this upload but, what you're missing is the quality of their sound. Most of all, Russell's pounding at 1:52 ... Heart Stopping!
