Hey guys - I finally got to put the tape machine to use to record a few demo ideas.

This vidcast is an overview of the tape machine set up with some samples of the 2 new demo tunes.

I'll put the actual tunes up under my zoltarbass YouTube account and on my blog at www.beautiful-bass.com

  • How often do you change your strings? They always seem so uh...fresh, and I love the sound, if I could have a new pair of strings for every week I would heheh. Thanks for the vid, I like seeing what goes on behind the scenes.

  • depends. when I play a lot of gigs I change them pretty frequently. these strings are about 2-3 weeks old. I usually break some strings before I have to change them.

  • thanks for showing me so much at the victor wooten camp jeff

  • vis camp was a blast!

I'm very happy you found my presence helpful!

  • cool! i can remember actually loving cassettes but i never felt that way about cds or other digital mediums, way to go for giving tape a go! can't wait to hear the final cuts.

  • I originally wanted to release Ruiner Severhead - "The Jesus Fist Tapes" on cassette. Cassettes rule.

  • Why don't you use Logic? then you wouldn't have to fuck with tape.

  • 2 questions.1: how do you tune your bass?

2: how long've you been playing?

  • more Jeff Schmidty goodiness!

  • Now there's an idea for a Severhead video!

  • thanks... so you use one of those "re-amp" outputs?

  • he he - it hit this shit Blair Witch style! ;>

  • i use the millenia to run the bass over the tube before going into the gt10. It can pass hiz through the millenia.

  • Jeff, honestly, if you say this goes into this goes into this while shaking the camera back and forth, nobody will be able to see what's going on. Maybe you should draw a flowchart. ;)

  • Hi Jeff cool vid... geek question unrelated to tape but I notice you seem to have the Millenia preamp going to the high-Z input on the GT-10... do you find that offers better sound than straight to the GT-10 (or is it more for routing purposes)? I was trying something like that recently (10M impedance preamp on Fishman SoloAmp to 1M input on GT-10) and it seemed to offer some improvement, not sure if it was my imagination.
