Finally someone who knows history. Slavery is often mentioned as the root cause of the Civil War. Even at Gettysburg the history books have been "WHITE WASHED" to reflect that the war was fought to free the slaves. Heck! The North had just as many slaves as did the South prior to the war.

Fair play to her Whatever the flag stands for to other people is irrelevant. It's a very large part of American history and should be remembered as such. The Civil War was not just about slavery, in fact slavery had very little to do with it. It was the Federal government asserting it's power over the rest of the country, and willing to murder hundreds of thousands of Americans to do it. It also had to do with the keeping the vast wealth of the South in Federal hands.
