COURSE OVERVIEW
This maxi-course is designed for general practitioners who would like to expand their office services to include implants. Participants will return to their practices with the clinical skills and confidence to complete implant procedures. Earn 80 CEUs through AGD.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Computer-based treatment planning has led to quantum leaps in the art and science of implant dentistry. Clinicians can now make more accurate implant placements than ever before. After completing the course, the clinician will understand how to perform:
• Virtual treatment planning and computer-guided protocols
• Case selection and common contraindications
• Implant placement 101
• Atraumatic extraction and socket preservation
• Surgical and restorative techniques in the aesthetic zone
• Immediate placement and immediate loading protocols
• Modified sinus lift techniques
• Plastic soft tissue surgeries
• Ridge splitting and expansion techniques
• Small Diameter Implant protocols - "When less is more"
• Successful marketing techniques
COURSE PROGRAM & DATES:
Session One January 22-23, 2010
Lecture on virtual anatomy. Introduction to cone beam CBCT implant planning and surgical guide design. Workshop on computer guided dental surgeries. Introduction to implant systems. Participants will bring two cases for TX planning. Live surgeries.
Session Two February 12-13, 2010
Lecture on incision techniques, flap design, atraumatic extraction and socket preservation, osteotomy sequence and implants placement on the aesthetic zone. Participants will place implants on pre-selected cases. Live surgeries.
Session Three March 12-13, 2010
Lecture on surgical and restorative protocols on immediate loading of fixed provisional bridge. Communication with the laboratory. Participants will perform live surgery on their own patients. Live surgeries.
Session Four April 2-3, 2010
Lecture on modified sinus lift, ridge splitting, basic soft tissue management around implants and bone grafting techniques. Live surgeries.
Session Five May 7-8, 2010
Indications and usages of mini-implants for denture stabilization and advanced applications in implant dentistry. Live surgeries.
FACULTY:
Alvaro Ordoñez, DDS
Associate professor at the University of Florida, expert consultant at the Veterans Hospital, GP with exclusive practice in TMD and dental implants. Research fellow in TMD and facial pain at Tuft Univesity Pain Center in Boston. Co-chairman for Latin America of the ICOI. Published author at Clinical Innovations, American Academy of Osseointegration.
Allan Fuhr, DMD
Dr. Allan Fuhr is a national and international lecturer on surgical and prosthetic techniques for IMTEC MDI Implants and ENDURE Internal Hex Implants. He received his DMD from Farleigh Dickinson University College of Dentistry after earning his BA from the University of Louisville in Kentucky. Dr. Fuhr is a member of numerous professional organizations including the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Federation Dentaire Internationale, the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Dental Association. His writing has been published in dental journals, and his accreditations include PACE approval with the Academy of General Dentistry.
Avi Schetritt, DMD
Dr. Avi Schetritt is a board certified periodontist and currently maintains a private practice in Miami Florida. Dr. Schetritt has lectured nationally and internationally on the topics of periodontics and implant dentistry. He has also authored several articles on these topics.
Raymond Kimsey, DMD
Graduate of University of Florida, completed GPR with extensive experience in anesthesia and pediatrics. Active in the education of residents in the management of apprehensive patients.
Raphael Santrich, CDT Ceramist
Owner of a dental laboratory in Aventura, FL, specializes in all fixed restorations and custom cosmetics. Trainer of Nobel Biocare and KOL of GC. Published cases and techniques, member of ACP and IADR.
