@logybear86 Hernandez and Welbeck will have at least 25 between them by the time this season finishes for sure. Nani,Carrick,Giggs,Valencia can chip in aswell.Rooney doesnt score THAT much.We're not the Arsenal.
On Will Keane, yeah - being compared to Sherringham and Solskjaer is nothing. He must be rubbish just like those two. Major sarcasm right there son btw.
Also,Morrison would be the perfect fit but sadly he's a retard ands is gonna be gone soon.Rumours to Barca.Kid's class.

And when Rooney was 19-20 he had been bought for 30m off Everton, was very highly rated by anyone with eyes and already becoming a key member of England's team. Ronaldo, well he was already mking big strides, and afte the world Cup tha yea really took off.. His potenial was on a different level to Will Keane, top clubs were already showing an interest in him Totally different situation really.

What happens if Rooney gets injured or goes through a spell of not scoring. Can we rely on Hernandez, Welbeck and Will Keane and Macheda to score the goals.. Another thing is while Rooney has bee in his spells of not scoring, Berbatov has been filling the gap with some. Sure, people can say he ONLY scores against small teams but these are the same teams Rooney isn't scoring against as far as I can see.
And goals aren't everything either. Berba is class in general play.

His goals return is just as good as it was at Spurs. Difference is at Spurs he was the main man an so obviously looked a better player, at Utd there's a better calibre of player around him and he is just another good player. People forget that, they expect miracles in some respect, like he's stand out like he did at Spurs, nah it doesn't work like that.
But as I said, for the investement we made in him, the ability he has, what he can offer. selling him brings no value.

I don't buy into this Berba only scores againt small teams theory. It's so harsh on he man.. He doesn't even start against big teams for one.. and if you go back on the few games he did, assist v Liverpool 1st game, assist v Chelsea second game, goal v Chelsea, hat trick v Liverpool.. His record is not bad at all, considering he scraps he works on. Like you said about the kids, how can they be judged without getting he required games. But Berba is a SUPREME footballer.

I'm a big fan of Morrison and have been watching lots of him since he was in the academy but expecting him to come in and do anything other than a couple of cameo roles, just as Macheda and Welbeck did a couple of years ago is a bit unrealistic.
Welbeck always looked like he was on the right track to me. He came in and did the basics and now we hve a player who has a good football brain, better brain than Hernandez and certainly Macheda.

@logybear86 Then,Welbeck and Chica are proper #9's.Chica has had a stop start season.The concussion,tons of knocks and Welbeck's form.On top of that the current style doesnt suit him one bit.Also,Berba only scores against low teams.Gets a hat-trick but does nothing the rest of the game.And buying an experienced striker is far from neccessary.Bringing in a 28 yr old for 30m is just crazy,especially after the effort players like Smith/RVN/Tevez/Saha/Ole gave previously.

@logybear86 You do know when Rooney/Ronaldo were 19/20 everyone was saying they werent good enough for Utd.The promise Morrison & Keane have shown is remarkable [pity that Morrison is a dick and is leaving].How can you tell they arent good enough?They havent got the opportunities they deserve.Macheda has shown touches of class,but isnt the finished article.He needs more playing time,simple as. This time 2 years back Danny was shite.Now he's a terrorist.

Cause let's be honest,, the three you mentioned are not at the level required, including Macheda. And even though Welbeck has looked class, very promising, and Hernandez after the hype of his breakthrough season has died down. Neither, just like Berbatov, have really nailed down a regular place alongside Rooney.
We would be unwise to get rid of such an experienced forward. Rooney struggles to provide our goals to a van Nistelrooy or Ronaldo level. He needs the help.

I don't think we should sell him at all. I hope he signs the 1-year extension. He's worth more to us than 8-10m. In fact you'd be lucky to find a player for 20m with his ability. If he's willing to fight for a place then we should keep him, and to be honest it seems like a bit of that Utd winning mentality, albeit without the proper drive, has rubbed off on him. Can't hurt to have him around, it's not like he's completely incompatible, he's an intelligent footballer.
@0123z he scored 5 yesterday
