Zhan Zhuang - powerful Chi Kung exercise which unlocks deep reserves of energy, builds internal stamina, strenghten immunity, relievs chronic illness and promotes the natural regeneration of your energy and nervous system.

It is the foundation practise of Yi Chuan both for health and Martial Arts. There are more advanced positions and variations of these.

  • sorry tho have to say this. The man is great , all the postures are nicely done. The commentaries, all of them, misses the point. Yi means mind or intention, In all the postures the Yi, without using any strneght, mis imagine paires of opposing forces. If not, the practise is goodd only for health, not for martial arts

  • @MrChemanfu - Remember this is Zhan Zhuang - it is a part of the training of Yi Chuan not Yi Chuan in itself - so your definition of Yi is not relevant regarding "strenght" - The whole meaning of these postures are "relaxation" in order for "inner strenght" to cultivate and the Chi to flow free and strong, deepen the breathing etc etc - it is learning to apply only the neccessary muscle strenght to hold the posture - it is not only for health but for Martial arts also..

  • what is his name ?

    who is that man?

  • @realfoad - His Name is Bo Jia Cong - He is a Shifu in the art of Yi Quan aka Da Cheng Quan - Zhan Zhuang is a key element in this style both for health and the martial art (developing inner strenght and power) - Yi Quan was created by Wang Xiang Zhai (around early 1900 century) and comes from the Xing Yi system (these "standing" chi kung exercises are most likely also developed/derived from Xing Yi among other styles) - Mr Wang was a student of Guo Yunshen (famous Xing Yi master)

  • BUT the 2 important thing is:

1 - for moving styles: if you loose the energy in a move then you are doing it wrong

2 - for both moving and this kind: everything is comes from the exercise - this means you MUST not try to force anything like sensations or breath becouse these thing will come when you are ready for them.

  • @ojbhbz - you are most correct sir :)

In this system there is no special breathing technique - above all should there be no "forcing" of the breath - let everything happen naturally - as your training advances and progress you will gradually become more and more relaxed, open energy blocks and your breathing will return to the deep abdominal breathing (Tan Tien) we once were borned with, but loose when adapting to the modern way og life (stress)..

  • @LuckyLukeVJahrestal

    thnx a lot

  • Do not call yourself a serious Martial Artist, unless you make this practice fundamental in your training.

The aim is to hold the postures for long periods for optimum results.

  • thank you!

  • this kind of qigong is not require any special breathing. you can breath calmly as you feel confortable. Special breathing is for altering your mind state or for aiding the en ergy flow coming from your movement - and it's mainly breath out for moving (arms) front and/or up, and breath in for moving (arms) back and/or down.
