Riding the elevator at the parking garage at the Capitol Center in Columbia, SC. The parking garage itself can be seen in Columbia's skyline. This is because this garage and the building is located on the top of a large hill. This elevator looks west down the hill from the top, which provides great views of the Congaree River Valley and West Columbia. This garage also has great views of the construction of the Tower at Main & Gervais.
The garage itself is in fair shape, but it needs a little more work and maintenance. It is connected to the Capitol Center, and you can access the building from the second floor of the garage. Once inside, you will look directly at the high-rise elevators and the security desk (which only looks at the high-rise elevator bank). The garage is free on the weekends (as far as I know it), but it needs a little more security even though the building itself is quite secure. Floors G through 3 are restricted to Capitol Center employees. Floors 4 and up are public parking. This is the same for the Bull St. Parking Garage which has public parking on the top 3 floors.
Elevator Specs.
Brand: Dover
Estimated Installment: Late 1980's

Fixtures: Epco Circleline (these are common in Columbia's parking garages)
Service: Daily (it is run on the weekends when the garage is free)
Reliability: Not truly reliable since it breaks quite frequently and it makes noises while moving. Also, you may hear that loud clicking sound before it moves.
