Imam Khomeini on a "non-Islamic Republic" explains concept of "Freedom" in Iran

The Imam's Wisdom: The Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in this rare video describes Iran's destiny and its chosen path: an independent, future self-sufficient country that can project its own might rather than remaining a client state and consumer. The Imam also clarifies that no power could bring forward such masses except for the factor Islam. In the eyes of the Imam, a Republic, a Democratic Republic or even Islamic Democratic Republic were unacceptable and would be unable to free Muslims and bring forward independence, knowing full well the failure of secularism in nearly every Islamic country and its inevitable clash with the political religion. Islamic Republic is a monolithic concept that encompasses all of these variables and hence it was chosen. Freedom is measured by Islamic standards and ethics, not by those of other countries or cultures.
