Reactions to I am a Stay at Home Mom

Some reactions I have gotten from people when they hear I am choosing to be a stay at home mom. Some feel nice and others might sound a little snooty. If you don't work, you still contribute- either way moms do a lot.

The whole "I couldn't do it because my kids would drive me crazy" thing... in my inside voice I am saying, "That's why your kids drive you crazy. Try spending more time with them and they might be better behaved." /judgemental

The amazing thing about our "progress" as a society, is that 100 years ago, feminism was about fighting for women's rights to stay home and raise their kids, because society was forcing them to work. Things are so much more progressive now...

@jcronian9806 I do carve out some time for me by making the kids entertain themselves while I exercise. (one is napping and then I kick the others in the back yard to play) It is hard to get "you" time...especially when your kids are so young. This would make for a good topic!

I stayed home with my daughter the first 7 months. Technically I am still staying home with her, but I am not with her as much because I have returned to school. I do have a question. Do you get any "you" time besides at night when the kids go to bed? That is one thing I found hard to deal with when I was staying home full-time. Thanks for sharing.

I do both, I work during the school year and stay home in the summer. By the end of the summer, I'm ready to go back to work. I have learned that staying at home is definitely not as easy as it seems. There are definitely pros and cons to both options and I respect both SAHMs and Working parents. I think it's awesome that you stay home! :)

I had a dad at my sons open house for school turn and say to me that I should write my name down on all the volunteer sheets because , " I do nothing all day"!!!!

This is the response that really makes my blood boil! I am just tired of everyone judging, just take care of yours and I will take care of mine and the world would be much nicer lol!! :0)

I stay at home and I have a friend that is also a stay at home mother. Last night we went out for dinner, just the two of us and my friends husband got into an argument with his mother because she doesn't agree with us going out and spending the money our husbands earn....
