It's a wonderful idea. It's too bad that the cities in my area have ordinances that they use to make it a legal offense to grow food in one's own front yard. Everyone is so busy worrying about what their neighbor is doing, instead of being content with their own property and it's use. :(

Beautiful garden!!!!! I hope your neighbors catch on and turn their lawns into raised beds as well. What an inspiration :)

John was way less intense about gardening back in the day.

    I like mellow John.

what have you used for the trellis material? I'm using this method this year, but I'm worried about the weight of cucumbers, squash, etc.

I built six raised beds in my backyard for nothing. I made them using pallets that people put in the free section of Craigslist and the irrigation tubing was also free from the same site. The compost was made using peoples yard waste that they leave in bags on the side of the road and I talked to the owner of a health food café in town if I could have all the trim waste from there fruits and vegetables. It took about a year to get it all going because of the compost but still it was free. Cheers

Gardening makes living in a hot climate very rewarding. That and line-drying clothes.

Get an attorney and challege an ordinance on front yard garden.......it's a offense to your liberty. Challenge it and get it changed. I'd challenge it before you actually did it though.

Hey John I've been watching your videos for years now, I am curious how your raised beds are holding up? I would like to try the same way as the price would be reasonable that way. I would hope you could get 10 years out of them maybe?
