  • the plot of avatar was pretty unoriginal, as it basically is Dances with Wolves, just in space, however, everything else in the movie is great. the acting, the special effects (ESPECIALLY the special effects) and the action scenes are really good. it is not my favorite James Cameron movie (my fav is Aliens) but it was a great experience. I would give Avatar an A

  • Who really cares if the story was similar to Dances With Wolves or Pocahontas? This movie was really about the incredible visuals like Roeper said. People whine too much, and hate for the sake of hating, and it's too bad because when they focus on the Dances with Wolves parallels I think they tend to forget how unique the plot actually is. Besides, no one ever said guys like George Lucas or James Cameron win Oscars for their screenplays.

  • @Quagile

VISUAL effects, not "special effects". CGI is visual effects, things that are actually there are special effects.

  • Avatar is simply a popcorn movie, i didn't liked it.

  • @Quagile I think Dances with wolves wasn't that great, and I actually saw more Pocahontas plot lines in this movie. None the less the movie was good! The acting was good enough to make the movie work, the special effects were believable to the extreme, and I really, really liked the score. B+.

  • You guys are imbecilic and puerile kids.

  • you know it's heavy handed when richard roeper admits it.

  • Ok, to all you jack-holes who whine about how Avatar's story was unoriginal, I submit to you this: there has NEVER been an original sci-fi movie EVER. I mean, Star Wars was one of the LEAST original films in history. It was a 'rip-off' of Hidden Fortress. Alien was a rip-off of 'Thing from another world'. '2001 a Space Odyssey' didn't even HAVE a story. Sci-fi films have always had familiar stories because that's how they work. You know wat we would ahve if they didnt? The Star Wars prequels.

  • james cameron admitted in a radio interview that the story was unoriginal.

So this only means that he wanted to show off his drawings...

  • Don't compare Suckatar to Star Wars.

  • I give it a C-
