Jim McElwain out coaches Gus Malzahn in this call for a two point conversion in the 2011 Iron Bowl. Barrett Jones lines up as a slot receiver and AJ McCarron throws a tight-end screen pass, very similar to the one Auburn tries to use with Lutzenkitchen, to an uncovered Michael Williams for an easy two points. Auburn's D is nowhere to be found.

  • Jim McElwain didn't out coach Gus really. I mean Gus always runs this play. This is not a surprise. I'm pretty sure the whole Alabama coaching staff is looking for revenge and tried to give Auburn a little dose of their own medicine, remembering the fluke 70 yd td, and the Lutzenkirchen sneak out pass just like this one to win the game. Auburn always lines up the LT in the slot, so you know Bama had to do it. So yeah, we did taste our own medicine here......Just type in Auburn's new wideout

  • people need to stop aruging cause the bama fans know damn well saban was trying to embrasse auburn worse than he already did thats the same damn play cam newton throw to luzten in the 2010 iron bowl saban was giving us a taste of of our own medicine

  • Why are people saying it's Alabama running the barns plays? I have seen other teams run the same plays before. Nothing the barn invented. All the barn has is giant flash cards for the lower IQ players.

  • Hey Aubums, Rammer Jammer we just beat the hell outa you and LSU! Oh yeah and the #1 recruiting class again. Roll Tide!

  • wow alabama cam in our house and whooped us bad for the fist time in 10 years i already know they wouldve have beat a very good auburn team like that

  • good play. too bad bama is illegal. 5 in the backfield...WR split out wide right should probably be on LOS...but they got away with it.

  • Hey Alabama, do what you do best, copy Auburn so maybe you can have a little class for once.

  • @TheDefault8400 That's what I said. Gus is more of a spread guy, Jim is more of a pro style - power I guy. It's the same purpose he just tried to make it look different. Nothing is really too much different. The ball goes to the same player (te) and the LT is a decoy.

  • @MrAUFANATIC I see what you are saying, but I still don't think that's evidence enough to claim that he stole the idea from Gus, it was a completely different formation and Jones was only used as a decoy as opposed to being the target reciever like Ziemba. I appreciate the civil and thoughtful response though, refreshing to see in today's internet society.

  • @ILovestorms He's not the highest paid asst in the country for no reason.....
