June 11, 2011 - This is the second best flight of the series for the world record (pending official review) for indoor gliders for ceilings over 30 meters. This flight is 1:52.12 Several of the flights were over 1:50. Stan was throwing hard, and with incredible consistency.

  • This is awesome but the eating noise in the background is really nasty

  • @terpsmcgerps .. i know. sorry about that. camera's mike was better than I thought.

  • Cool!

How come it doesn´t break when you throw it??

  • @frogeye3000 , it is the result of years of refinement, but the simple answer is that high quality balsa wood when oriented with the grain in the optimal direction is very strong and also flexible, certainly stronger than I ever imagined it could be. Also, the left wing is reinforced with carbon fiber strips that add tons of strength for almost no weight gain. The fuselage is a carbon fiber tube, also incredibly strong, but also flexible as it needs to absorb some of the force of the launch.

  • This should have way more views! Such a long flight...

  • @gliderguider1 couldn't agree more. it's a pity so few people find this fascinating!

  • :O

  • Breathtaking. I can't even imagine how long it must take to get the planes just right. Where did you come up with that launch style?

  • Incredible how it got so close to the roof and walls throughout the flight, circle after circle, without hitting anything. It's always a pleasure to see a really well trimmed glider fly, whether RC or free flight.

  • Big Up!
