Throughout his life, Yeshua honored His Father -- and opened anew
the way to the Kingdom of Heaven with His miracles and teachings.
But now the time of his final trial approached.
It would be the last time Jesus came up to Jerusalem ...
He entered the city as a bridegroom - and was welcomed as a King.
Again it was the Passover festival.
Celebration was in the air... as well as the tension of unrest and rebellion. ......
Everyone was under the watchful eyes of the Romans --
... especially Yeshua and those of us who went with Him.
Looking down at the city, Yeshua prophesied that not one stone
of the Temple would be left standing upon another --
and so indeed it came to pass.
Just one generation later, we Jews rose in rebellion
against the hated Roman oppressors.
But - too strong for us --
the mighty Roman Legions besieged Jerusalem
and destroyed our Temple - forever.
Not long after Jesus' death there was a revolt by the Jewish people against the Roman oppressors. In response to that revolt the Temple was destroyed. Torn down completely, exactly as Jesus prophesized, not one stone left on another.
They plundered Jerusalem -- taking the Temple treasures off to Rome.
When Titus entered Rome, boasting of his victory
and showing off the spoils -- the Ark of the Covenant was not among them.
Perhaps then the rumors were true -- and the Holy of Holies had indeed been empty.
