Hey guys.....take it easy, what if Avatar was created with metacreation Bryce 1.0 and Poser 1.0 plus windows '95 MSpaint for teksturing, and shot using Sony pocket camera 2MB pix, edit in windows video editor, and render in pentium 1 5pc with 1gb ram......they are really damn good fuckin expert
@attonator Zbrush was not used for one terrain sequence in this movie only characters. Where did you recall anyone in here talking about characters? Mari, Nuke Vue, Speedtree are what was used int he environments, go troll around some character modeling postings, there's only about 20 million of them cause character modelers area dime a dozen. And don't worry bub, I know where I work, easy enough to see you don[t in the industry, I have IMDB credits how many do you?
@TheRestless2009 hey dipshit, wow you look stupid now read on fool. go to the eon software page, under showcase tab hit spotlights, look to your left and click on Peter Baustaedter, and go cry yourself to sleep. I swear people are clueless.
@carbonhealth eh? used in about 30 major motion pictures in the past 10 years, Vue is the staple along with Speedtree now for natural environments, but I guess someone who hangs out on cgpersia would know more than actual people working in the industry.
@attonator Renderman was never used once in avatar, where do you get your info? Why would Weta bother to use 4 programs that do exactly the same thing Max maya, xsi and lightwave are all modeling apps. Maya being the most versatile would be the most likely choice but sorry Powers did make another choice. They also didn't bother with Zbrush as they created Mari for that purpose, which at the end was all comped in Nuke. Gotta love people who don't work in the industry being misinformed.
@Wild007Will Partially correct. Vue was used on 330 shots in Avatar, some may have been a simple atmosphere render, others were way more complex. Speedtree was actually used a bit more in conjunction with Vue and Nuke and Maya. In fact the first 17 er so seconds of the movie is a Vue scene of Speedtree trees with some fog that ILM used as a test for Cameron. He liked it so much he stuck it in the movie. I'm also a vfx artist and Vue is my main app along with Nuke for natural environments.
cmon man stop using presets and really create this scene. You make Vue look like an amateur application when you didn't do anything to scratch the surface of the program's capability. YEa you got something decent, but totally novice.
