Drew here to present to you possibly one of the best electronic dictionaries ever made (and certainly the most affordable) for the Nintendo DS.

Kanji Sonomama Rakubiki Jiten is an electronic Japanese dictionary for the Nintendo DS which allows the user to translate from English to Japanese, and Japanese to English. Thanks to the stylus for the DS, it allows a function that not many other electronic dictionaries have, which is the ability to write kanji symbols. So even in the event you don't know how to read a kanji you come across, all you have to do is write it into the DS.

  • I used to have a DS and now I have an iPod touch. My advice is to ditch the DS and get an iPod touch. So many Japanese apps and dictionaries for it, it's great.

  • @danpluso I have an ipod touch as well. I have dictionary software for it, but I haven't come across one that allows you to write the kanji out. If you know of such an app plz let us know! Thx! :D

  • Sounds very interesting. Since the DS doesn't have a region code I should be able to use it on my european DS.

Does the game come with an english instruction (on how to use the software) or is it only in Japanese?

  • wait? you are from Croatia? Samo omenim, ker vidim hrvaško zastavo v ozadju ^^

  • For sure my favorite program for DS (notice I didn't call it game). A great introduction to start using a monolingual dictionary. Made mainly for Japanese people so reading a definition is very detailed. Very useful to read all the hundreds of particles and how they are explained to Japanese people (with example, proper grammar use, wrong uses and much more).

If you study Japanese or even if you already speak it, this program is a must!!!

  • i just got this game. i am a japanese language student going into third year. im very excited

  • Awesome Vid!!!!

  • @GETtoJAPAN I use an app called "ShinKanji". It is a Kanji dictionary that lets you draw the kanji. So providing you know the stroke order of a kanji you can look it up. For studying Kanji I use another app called "Kanji LS Touch" It lets you practice the Kanji based on JLPT levels and has a test mode too. Both apps I love and use a lot.

  • you guys should go to apple tree they hay almost all the language in the world and you can go internet with it.

  • @nahomi009 evar heard of an emulator and roms if not google it :P
