  • How many years did you learn to play? I'am student too (with teacher) and I learn slowly than you.

  • I learned violin when I was 7 years old for 2 years, but I hated it then. 18 months ago I bought a violin and started teaching myself. I have been playing guitar for 25 years and teaching guitar for 10 years. It is much easier when you are already a musician, but I still have many problems with the bow.

  • Hey man, for being self taught, you sound amazing. You should check out some old time fiddlers. Tommy Jarrell, Marcus Martin, Eddon Hammons and the like. Bluegrass is fine and dandy, but nothin' aint near as good as Old Time! High Five!

  • I agree Josh, Old Time is great. I've been going through my "Fiddler's Fakebook" looking for ideas. Will check out the artists you suggested.

  • selftaught!! thats really good, i'm 14, i've been playing for about 2 years and i'm grade 4. i spend like 3-4 hours on my music a day. well done, keep it up!

  • I've been playing guitar for over 20 years, so the fiddle wasn't that hard. You will find that once you understand music you will be able to pick up almost any instrument and sound quite decent after a few months...

  • I learned guitar as an adult, and am currently a novice fiddler. But for me personally, because of the intonation problems that come with no frets and the complete alienness of bowing, the fiddle is much much harder to play.

Others may have found the opposite to be true, but to me the fiddle is just fiendishly difficult.

  • Dude, why the crap do people keep saying -1 to all of the nice comments????? It didn't suck, so shut your mouths.

  • You look like that guy holding the pitchfork in "American Gothic".

  • hey im 13 and ive been playing a guitar for 4 years and then i just picked up the mandolin and ive been playing piano as long as i can rember but i was wondering if u could post so beginer videos cuas i plan on playing viddle to

  • @charlesclem I agree, my only argument is the banjo... Freaking ridiculous.... I play the piano since i was 8, i learned bass in like 2 days (simple instrument), learned the guitar fairly well after about 6 months (after getting my fingers to do what i want), I learned the mandolin in like 2 months, and the freakin banjo is giving me TERROR. lol over a year and i still sound like crap.

  • Check out fiddlersgrove . com

One of the most family friendly and bluegrass filled weekends ever. I enjoy myself so much. Come check it out! You really should compete for fiddler of the festival. Your videos are great!

  • Pretty good man...I'm a beginner and I'm loving it ..My husband is really good on the banjo and mandolin, he's teaching me...I already know the cords to "Rocky top"!

  • @masonisadog fiddle is a type or style of music played on a violin, very fast, mostly played and perfected by the irish over many hundreds of years.

  • Well I really enjoyed that and I thought it was a great tune played really well.

    Cheers!

  • Hey Hey,

I Can Play The Mandolin To This,

I Feel A Duet Coming On,

    Wicked Cool ;)

  • its not a violin, is a fiddle?
