73,141 Charlotte, DUMU 1001, 73,213 and 73,212 arrives at Windsor and Eton Riverside with "The Eton Rifles" railtour, run by Hasting Diesels Limited. The tour was due to run from Hasting to Waterloo and visit the Epsom Down's branch, the Windsor & Eton Riverside branch and the Shepperton Branch. How ever the train only made it down the Epsom Downs branch, and the Windsor & Eton Riverside, branch, and due to rotten sleepers the track spread under the wait of 73,141 and 1001's powercar, Tunbridge Wells nearly came off the rails!

For the next 3 1/2 hours, we watched a waited for something to happen, at network rail staff gasbagged and drank coffee while deciding what to do, in the end, I left them, and as I write this, as far as I am aware the train is seen sitting there at Windsor! Maybe tonight if the Queen has nothing to do, she could do down to the station and see, the unusual sceptical for her self!

This is all Network Rail's fault for not maintaining the track properly!

  • The scheduled services to Windsor and Eton Riverside only use one of the two platforms at the station - they probably never bothered maintaining the other track.

  • @eltonator Yeah thats prity much what happend! The usall trains are also much lighter!

  • excellant video henry!:)

  • Thanks!

  • There is no obvious sign of trouble as the train stops.

PS That is a gross misuse of head code 75 - E Croydon - L Bridge via Crystal Palace.

  • I've wached the video, a few time, but i cant see a problem! It would have been nice if they hasd used the correct headcode!

  • No, the 75 was for 1Z75

  • Ohhhhh. I know every South Central headcode from memory, but I guess they must have been duplicated in the South West area.

  • It is the correct headcode you plumb.

  • I was the guy with a grey hoddie on, and at one point had a dark blue raincoate on, I was mainly with my dad, and a younger boy! I'm just trying to work out which one you were!

  • I heard that the train was due to finally leave Windsor at 22:45 last night, but shorley the track can be back in use unless they reneved it over night which if find hard to believe!

  • Thanks!

  • I must have spoken to you on Sunday but I can't work out who you were.

  • The NR website is showing the platform as being available again, so I guess they moved the train during the night.

  • Great video Mate 5*
