Feb 16, 2000 - While David Letterman was recovering from quintuple bypass surgery, the Late Show filled time with special "Backstage" shows where a guest host and former guest would relive past Late Show appearances. Hosted by Tom Snyder and mainly featuring a "best of" Norm Macdonald with "Dave and Richard Simmons go Door to Door" and Don Rickles as well, this show is one of the classics and so it's uploaded in its entirety (minus the obligatory Top Ten list).

Part 4 of 5.

  • Wait.......was Richard Simmons supposed to be there instead of Norm? I hope that was a bad joke by Snyder

  • @Rayla840 I think it was that Richard Simmons was supposed to be another guest, so Norm, Richard and then Rickles.

  • they used to have, buns of steel... that would hurt

  • I love Dave's "Triplets" jacket. It's like a Minnesota Twins jacket, but it says "Triplets" instead!

  • Tom Snyder was really enjoyable and "pleasant" in all of these. He was on when I was a little kid (I guess?), but I can see why he was the host for sure.

  • Simmons really is hilarious.

  • dead on impression of don rickles FANTASTIC
