    Creepy song. Really beautiful.

This is like night and day when compared to the country music I hear on the radio.

That does not make sense, Germans were a huge influence on Appalachian culture. Yodeling is all the evidence needed! This strong aspect of early Country music is from the Alpine region, Swiss/Austria/Bavaria.

Country also came from slave music/blues. Many of the choruses/cadences can be heard in black music. Hank Williams and AP Carter both loved the blues.

Folk came from the mix of Irish and African peoples of the Appalachians, whereas country came from the South-western US when people started taking folk to the campfires and playing around the fire while rustling live-stock. So country actually spawned from American bluegrass and folk being taken out west with a new breed of people singing it and adding their own experiences. When the Iconic American west became trendy, so did it's music while bluegrass and Folk never changed.
