@NeilFraudstrong Why would I say "nineteen hundred, ninety-eight" since I don't say "two thousand, ninety-eight"? Logically, if you say "two thousand, ten", then you should also say "nineteen hundred, ten", but most people just say "nineteen, ten". Shortening "nineteen hundred" to "nineteen" and "two thousand" to "twenty" is just a faster way of saying it.
