The elite global university super-brands revealed

This 'Talking Heads' presentation features contributions from Phil Baty, editor of the world university rankings, and Simon Pratt, head of Institutional Profiles at Thomson Reuters. A university's reputation and 'brand' are key elements of its success or failure in a competitive global market for staff and students; the presentation highlights the power of brand in protecting an institution's existing market position; the threats to existing university brands; the market-driven necessity to develop clear brands and take academic staff with you; the ease with which reputations can fall or rise, in the modern socially-networked era, and the prospects of those new entrants to the market, with massive marketing resources, to over-take traditional public sector institutions in terms of reputation.
