Recorded in Jan 2011 -- Custom Rick Turner Renaissance 6-string fretless bass, strung with TI Acousticores. Only video I recorded with this bass. Amazing fretless tone, but I just don't play fretless enough. Ended up selling it (partially funded my Fodera). Was nice to play around with for a while though!!

  • I really like the little thing at 2:08, it jumped out at me, but resolved nicely. :)

  • @AnnaDahmer666 The purpose of a fretless instrument is to get the tones and techniques you wouldn't be able to normally, whether or not it has fret markers is irrelevant. And there are PLENTY of fretted instrument players who can play by ear, so I'm not getting your point here.

  • @GBagley XD

  • @superstriker00 ...because if it were fretless then it would be the perfect oppurtunity to learn to play by ear - to have a feel for the music and not just an eye for it.

  • @AnnaDahmer666 The point of the fretless instruments is really the tone and other technical advantages, why would you want an instrument you couldn't really use because you couldn't hit the notes?

  • @superstriker00 ...well that much would be obvious. It just seems like you're cheating if you get a fretless instrument with 'faux-frets'...I mean duh, you'd have the sound/expressive advantage. (i.e. warm-sounding slides without so much background noise). This one just seems odd to me is all.

Anyways I've been playing a 6-string bass for years now and wouldn't mind having one of this guy's acoustic 6-strings myself...fretted or 'faux-fretted'

  • @AnnaDahmer666 I think you might not understand anything about fretless instruments.

  • @GBagley *facepalms* oops, I meant as fretted vs. frettless...lol?

  • @ickerolig - Although this is true...
