The Cascais Jazz Festival (1971/1988) was the greatest jazz festival ever organized in Portugal and owes it's foundation to Luís Villas-Boas, the man who is considered the "father" of jazz in Portugal.

Back in the 80's I sent the VHS recording of this concert to John Abercrombie as he, himself, enjoyed the group's playing very much... I was there...what a a great concert.

thanks so much for posting this - this is my fave of all Abercrombie's bands and I;d never "seen" them move before :-) - they made 3 great albums - wish they came out on CD - maybe EDM will do one of those 3CD boxes they;ve been doing for other bands of this era.
