The pinch of spice she is speaking of that is difficult to understand is HING or Heeng. It takes the place of garlic and onions since some sects do not eat bulbs of the Alliaceae family.

I have seen 4-5 other videos of Dal Makhni on Youtube but yours was the first to came closer to real Punjabi Dhaba's Dal Makhni beside GT Road. Good work.

manjula,is it necessary to ad heavy cream for every type of dal or just dal mahknani?
Also what do you suggest for yellow dal on regular stove not pressure cooker?
also is it the same ingredients and time for the tiny split dal,yellow and red split.This is what i have.
