AVCHD (.m2ts) files converted to WMV

The only way I have found to convert my AVCHD files to anything else is to burn to a DVD with the software included with the camera (Pixela imagemixer, which my computer is just a little to slow to use for editing these HD files) and then use a DVD ripping program to get it back off the dvd in some other format, such as WMV, which I can edit with any old program, like Windows Moviemaker.

Yeah it does, that sucks. I have Vegas now so I don't have that problem anymore.
