A dangerous piece of legislation is rapidly moving through the Minnesota Legislature. Committees in both the Senate and House have passed a bill that would criminalize certain types of human embryonic stem cell research.
SF 695/HF 998 is titled an anti-cloning bill. In reality, it is the next step in an effort to ban human embryonic stem cell (hESC) research. This legislation has also been added to the Health and Human Services Appropriations bills and similar language has been added to the Higher Education Finance bills.
Stem cell research has amazing potential to cure the diseases and disorders that affect our families and our economy. Limiting its potential means limiting our ability to improve the health of millions of Americans.
Please contact your legislators and Governor Dayton and ask them to support research and to vote no on/veto SF695/HF998.
