  • hey, great recording - when is it from? Who's the conductor/orchestra?

  • Conductor - Sanderling, USSR Radio & TV Symphony (Moscow, 18 Feb 1955)

  • Richter playing Rachmaninoff... What else could you wish for, except perhaps to be present at that concert?

  • I love this concerto. It is beautiful, romantic, Russian to the core. I cannot understand why it's not performed more. I remember reading years ago that Horowitz had told Rachmaninov that he loved this concerto and promised to make it part of his performing repertory, but apparently that never happened.

  • WHERE IS THE NEXT PART ?????????

  • Byron Janis, Horowitz protege plays this Concerto supremely well, and sounds like young Horowitz.

  • I read that Rach on his deathbed made Horowitz promise to record this concerto. Horowitz probably hated learning new pieces & the Third was enough for him. Horowitz commented shortly before he died that he regretted not keeping the promise but he felt he'd served Rach enough with his devotion to the Third. I wrote a Piano Concerto in F-sharp Minor Op 1. Please check it out on my YT webpage. It's nowhere near as good as this one, of course, but it's in the Romantic tradition.

  • @awesomekapownoises23 GOT IT YEA!!

  • oh i wish i had richter edition...

  • soooooooo goooooooood

  • Sanderling was formed by Mravinsky at the Leningrad Philarmonic Orchestra... no doubt about it. Richter is equal to himself, just fantastic, powerful, generous and intellectually involved.

  • @loboris1995 hm? what information ? It's actually a question :)

  • @gouloum2222 eh,where did you get this information?

  • Wonderfully performed!!

    Bravo!
