  • great vids al!

any difference in what you use to soak your humdification device? is distilled water better than the glycol solution or the beads/gels, or are they all the same?

also, if the salt/water mixture that people use to calibrate their hydrometers gives you a perfect 75% humidity all the time, why dont people just use a small jar of salt and water as a humidification device instead of fussing with all these gadgets.

    thanks again, love your vids!!!

  • @petp There is no drastic difference in what you use to soak your humidification device but we recommend that you use only distilled water or, 100% Mystic or 100% Thompson solutions. As far as maintaining the correct humidity, Thompson Wonder Gel is able to release humidity “on demand,” continually, maintaining a perfect 70%. Each of the small jars are able to service a 100-count humidor for a minimum of 90 days before recharging is required. The salt/water mixture is not capable of doing this.

  • @robsta1208 - You seem to be having a bad day! Obviously, we're going to delete negative reviews with profanity as no one needs to be subjected to irrelevant, profane language. We value your opinion however, Al Remp is an extremely knowledgeable cigar aficionado who has dedicated over 50 years to what he describes as an obsession and an extreme passion.

    Have an excellent day robsta.

  • 4 corrections: (1) Wiping the wood is NOT a good thing for wood grain! Take the time to do it right and simply set a container of distilled water inside and let it evaporate and get absorbed by the wood before adding your cigars. (2) There's no velcro on that sponge... that was a magnet. (3) Cellophane is a choice and does breathe well. That's a personal preference issue but don't tell people it doesn't breathe. (4) That analog hygrometer will not last; I recommend everyone go digital.

  • 70% RH is a bad humidity level, in my opinion. I like my stogies at or around 65%RH for best burn and draw. 70% burns poor and uneven with a tight draw. If you don't like the way your cigars are burning time to time, drop the humidity to 65% (no lower).

  • I bought some Xikar gel crystals for my humidor. Do I still need to use the humidifier that came with it or, just use the crystals?

  • i love thompson cigars!! why yall trippin?

  • OK, silly newbie question... While waiting for my humidor to come up to 70%, is it a bad idea to keep my cigars in the bathroom, which is the most humid room I have? A shower gets steamy in there once a day...

  • so can you just pour a bit of distilled water on the humidifier?

  • I recommend giving the humidifier a few strong shakes in case there is some excess water...

  • he acts like we are retarded...
