  • My apologies to the DSA....seems i was a little quick off the mark with my criticisms of moderation. Thank you and well done.

  • @42ukjs Hi - just to quickly explain our moderation policy. We check all comments for offensive language before they are published. Comments with no offensive language are published - but it can take a couple of hours from you posting a comment to it being approved.

  • really ? switch off your engine at traffic signals that have just changed to red.

  • @bollinger1000 When the engine is idling you're wasting fuel and adding to CO2 emissions. If you're likely to be at a standstill for more than three minutes, simply switch off the engine.

  • @dsagov how many traffic lights do you know that are longer than a 3 minute wait? very few if any.

the constant turning on and off of the engine will wear out the starter motor. it also poses a risk and delay to other road users if for example your car takes a few attempts at starting

  • Stop spending my taxes money in pointless junk

  • How to be an eco-safe driver: Don't drive

  • @Scorpia1275 - I agree with you on the whole, but your last comment is a bit silly. That's like saying "4.5 million kids die in Africa each year so it's pointless trying to save the handful of kids dying anywhere else!" Small changes on a big scale obviously are just as beneficial as big changes on a small scale. If the 10 billion cars in the world managed to drive a bit more economically, then this would clearly reduce emissions more than the "aircraft taking off and landing elsewhere".

  • Following driving tests now examiners are briefing the candidates on eco driving, which is good but, they often mention block changing up gears?? Has nobody at the dsa realised that old uneconomical cars only had 3/4 gears but cars now have up to 6 gears, to make them economical, block changing up, turns a 6 speed car into a 3 speed car

  • A useful video but I think that the whole green issue is highly contentious. I think if we 'sell' this idea as a fuel-saving, cost efficieny measure, many more would take to it. NB. I teach block changing up and down as standard and the avoidance of uncessary gear changes. Mark Cole ADI

  • this is part of the driving test now and you will fail according to my driving instructor i do not want to put the car into a higher gear unless nescseray it reduces power and control also whereas out the clutch and the engine is having to work twice as hard to cope as well as me

  • LOL turn off ur engine @ traffic lights = madness.... hey guess what guise i know what we should do, LETS ALL TURN OUR ENGINES OFF WHEN WE GO AROUND CORNERS!! instead of dropping into 2nd gear, we should just turn off r engines and coast around them, thanks DSA for helping me 2 realize that i shud turn off my engine more than just when im not driving, u guys RULE

  • hm... nice I think...
