Just realized that the opening riff, general groove and production sound very similar to Peter and Gordon's "I Go To Pieces". Peter Asher of the duo was Paul McCartney's girlfriend's brother at the time. Perhaps he was influenced.

Raikaage is correct. This was originally slated for the Help album.
Rubber Soul was an album that was a bit more intimate and far less effected with verb and delay than this track contains.. McCartney and Lennon gave this to recording artist PJ Proby who had a minor hit with it. Personally, I really like the track. I thought it was one of the gems that stood out on the Anthology discs. I'm glad a Beatles version still exists.

This is from the Help sessions. Get the bootleg CDs called "Help Studio Sessions Back To Basics" and "A Hard Day's Night Studio Sessions Back To Basics". It's great to see them in their element on those records.
