  • When my brother drove otr in the 1980's he made about $60-$70 k some years. How much do they make now?

  • @popeye1250

It depends on what company you work for, if you are an independent truck driver, owner operator, if you are a solo or team driver and how many miles you put in. A good estimate would be that rookie drivers make between $35-$40 and an experience driver can make up to $120,000 or a little over depending on the conditions mentioned above. Its hard work and it definitely takes a toll on your body.

  • What about speaking Chinese? They can speak Mexican what about Chinese?

  • I don't know what kind of drugs you all are on but the trucking industry is suffering like any other. The pay has decreased and the mileage has dropped down to livable wages. Don't forget all the down time you'll spend setting for a load or catching up on hours to run legally. New DOT laws placed even more financial responsibilities upon the company drivers such as fines for faulty equipment is higher and levied on the driver. Count all yours hrs from leaving home till return about $6. an hr.
