i wonder why the drummers back then use to like swipe the high hat, like ringo star for example

@StillComedy I've only seen Ringo do it. Those sweeping strokes on the hat create a flowing motion feel in time with the groove and is possibly a more economic way to execute the ride pattern than the straight up and down strokes. It may be a better stroke technique ergonomically, easier on the wrists, perhaps.
