I read today that David Lammy has called for smacking laws to be relaxed. What has this got to do with it? Everything I have read suggests that the most rebellious youth come from the most disciplining homes. Is a myth to to suggest otherwise and just a knee jerk reaction I suspect.  The only badly behaved youngster in my nephew's class is well known for having stricter parents than anyone else. :Perhaps we should bring back smacking for adults?

I don't think it has anything to do with race. I'm 19 and I believe the youth of today is fucked up due to our justice system being so lenient. If our laws were stricter and you were punished fairly for the crime you committed then we would quickly weed out the people that give this country a bad name. If you steal in some muslim countries they take your hands, if you steal here you get a slap on the wrist and a 'telling off'. Watching people looting makes me ashamed to be British.
