On Feb. 23rd, 2011 Atlanta's Capital Police prohibit law-abiding citizens from exercising their fundamental rights under Georgia law.

I carry, but concealed. What are you trying to prove with it open? What advantage does it give you that concealed carry doesnt? All you do is make yourself a target and intimidate other people. Not only that but I bet 3/4 the people who open carry do not know how to defend their firearm in any situation as to deny access to it by an individual. Open carry have something to prove or in general are just button pushers looking to stir the pot.

@EJLSWE Lecturing? Well you call it that I call it information. Your responsible for your own training. I have a point of view as well. Regardless of right or wrong it's about common sense. As for the police looking for trouble it's all interpretation to the individual if you see him as a threat you need to ask yourself why? And then you can fix that in your mind. Everyone's rights will always be challenged, but it's up to good people making sound responsible decisions and laws.

@James1toknow I'm aware of the state laws as much as I'm aware of the constitution, thank you. Those who open carried did so in accordance to their state law, the Police was in the WRONG, do not try to lecture me on the constitution or state laws, please. During protests the Police tend to be those looking for trouble not the protestors. And by all means, bring it up to your local representative, that is your RIGHT, enjoy it while it lasts.

I agree on a lot of issues with Right to Keep and Bear Arms, but what kills me is the stupid things people do. A protest is a hostile environment adding to the mix you have a weapon in open view this is a mixture for disaster. You don't put blood in the water just to let the shark know you have the right to be there. Common sense and personnel etiquette.

@EJLSWE Regardless of the constitution each state has there laws within that state and that is what you need to abide by. There are things you may be able to do and things that are just not right, you don't go to a protest with a gun, if you can't understand that then you should never own a weapon. Your just looking for trouble and barking like your a lawyer. You know now that you mentioned it I should bring this up to my local Representative, I think I will. No weapons at protest PERIOD!

@James1toknow Open carry is not the norm because most Americans don't know about the constitution let alone their rights, these things are NOT taught in school, most of the police don't know about them either, else they wouldn’t harass those who openly carry, when people start exercising their rights, such as open carry, as a result there will be conflicts, this will change once everyone is up to speed on the constitution and their rights.

Lastly; I would oppose such a law.

@EJLSWE I'm not arguing this, you shouldn't go to a protest and be open carrying it just does not make sense to me. You have to remember this is not the wild west day's when open carry was the norm. I believe in the right to keep and bear arms but not at protests it invites a dangerous situation. Just think about it. No more contact needs to be made I would vote for a law to prohibit it period.
