Thank you for your advice, as you might see from the uploads ive done the sound is rubbish in comparisson to the piano im playing on. If i was setting up on a cheap scale, i would buy two mics and could i download a recording program for a laptop? any advice much appreciated.

would these mics make even an upright in good quality sound nice as well?

Hey Fluterific,
With an upright Piano, we would suggest trying the A/B setup. Depending on the Piano, you could try opening the top, with the two mics positioned down inside. You could also open the front, with the two mics facing inward. Obviously changing the placement, while checking levels is a good way to experiment before starting to track.
