  • Is that reef or fish only?

  • @raneve23 It's in between. There's live rock and a refugium but artificial corals in the display tank, otherwise the emperor angelfish and flame angelfish would eat them.

  • I forgot to also mention that until I got the 15 watt UV sterilizer, I was not able to keep fish alive longer than 6 months.

  • its a nice tank

your emperor angel looks happy and fine

i wonder about using tap water because am going to build a fowlr tank soon

and RO/DI units are kinda expensive

  • @TheOniomania RODI is better because nitrates start at 0 whereas my tap water has 10 nitrates. But for a FOWLR tank, most fish are fine nitrates under 80 except some more delicate ones which require nitrates of 40 or less like the emperor angelfish, flame angelfish, and butterfly fish. They're fine as long as their nutritional needs are met, and aggression from other fish are kept to a minimum, and your tank's footprint provides recommended swimming and you can keep nitrates at 40 or under.

  • @mrpmj00 Thnx for reply

i think i can keep the nutrition low with a refugim and algae scrubber,

but what about the other stuff that comes with the tap water like TDS, for example, does it affect the fishes

  • @TheOniomania The lafishguy friend has an aquarium business and he just uses tap water. Search on youtube for the video titled "LA Fishguys, Reef Aquarium Rose Anemone, Episode 91 pt 2, Rose Garden Anemone Tank"

Use Boyd's chemi mat to remove phosphate in 2 days.

  • Same size tank as mine but yours is nicer, what do you use for filtration? How much water do you change how often?
