For Whedonland's "I Reject Your Canon" contest, this is an alternate look at Joyce's death and how it happened.
The story is that Buffy and Spike got engaged, Joyce was furious at them so Buffy and Spike left Sunnydale. After clubbing one night, Spike runs into Drusilla and decides to leave Buffy. Buffy returns to Sunnydale and her mother. Meanwhile, Spike and Drusilla go back to their old tricks and Spike returns to kill Joyce out of spite.
