Dr. Regina Benjamin, Founder and CEO of the Bayou La Batre Rural Health Clinic in Bayou La Batre, Alabama, shares the tribulations she had preserving patient records in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. After patient records in this small shrimping village were damaged by the flood of the hurricane, a New Year's Day fire a few months later completely destroyed what was left. Benjamin made the decision to store her patient's records electronically to avoid further record loss.
