How to balance, a dynamically balanced tone arm, using a Dual 505 turntable with an Ortofon OM-10 phono cartridge. The tonearm features a 4 point bearing, a counter weight, and a precision calibrated spring at the the pivot point, to add the downward force (weight). Check out my other video to learn how to calibrate a statically balanced arm. The Stereo Shop, Hartford CT.

  • Thank you for posting this video. I have just bought a pre loved 505-2 and this was much more use than the manuals I have found online!

So far I've changed the belts and repaired the sticking micro switch that seem to be the bane of these decks. Now I have to diagnose the source of huge amounts of ground hum. I think it may be my amp or the RCA cables as the hum varies when the cables are wiggled at the amp end (Cyrus integrated).

    Many thanks!

  • One thing about those Dual tables, is they are AMAZING trackers! I can do the same with my early 1970's Dual 1219 :)

  • SHAME YOU CAN'T DO IT

  • Mcintosh :P! Great video, I am not really into vinyl, due to my music collection being mostly digital (sigh).
