  • I was in the music biz back in the 80s and 90s (Austin, TX), and faced the SAME EXACT QUESTIONS, way back then. :(

My solution: add the word "classical" in front of whatever it is you do (e.g. "classical pianist", "classical guitarist", etc.). The response was usually nods, quiet deference, and no more silly questions.

  • The guy in the striped orange shirt should have a 1/2 hr comedy series. He is absolutely hilarious. "a bit.. a bit of a living? oh that's great!" "And, you get paid to have fun? oh that's greaaat!"

    DWL

  • But it feels so good when someone who understands comes up after a set or a show and tells you that they really like what you're doing.

Love the bit about the validation of being on TV too!

"How are the kids? You making enough money to uh..." "Yeah, look it's fine! Don't worry about it, I'm a Man!"

  • you must have so much fun! Good on ya!

  • lol I get asked these questions so much.

  • Beautiful!

  • haha this is brilliant

  • I love this. And I hate those two questions.
