Animal research always leads to human experimentation, but not honestly. We need to do research with actual voluntary patients who are fully informed. Animals are not our "models," thereby people are continually killed and injured in prescription drug trials -- drugs that have all been thoroughly "tested" in animals. Increasing numbers of doctors are coming over to our side. Only a few US medical schools are still using live animals for trauma training courses. The use of animals there only hindered progress into what is now the industry standard: Trauma Man -- the lifelike human model with all of our organs and systems properly represented. What they already do after the animal tests, where they find the real results in humans...human studies and clinical trials. Often people die or are damaged when taking animal tested drugs. So the "alternative to wife beating" answer still applies.

"Legit" and "vivisection"... the worst oxymoron ever, there is nothing legitimate in any way about using "lab animals," and thus using people in the same way. Vioxx alone killed many thousands of people; new drugs/treatments are added to the failure list regularly.
