Mountain Hardwear: Men's Sub Zero Down Jacket - A dependable climbing jacket is as essential as a reliable mountaineering rope. A four-season mountaineering shelter can save you from the elements and a -40F rated sleeping bag can provide adequate warmth, but it's your outerwear that's going to protect and insulate you all the way back to civilization, which is why this 650-fill down Sub Zero Jacket is an essential fit for expeditions and extended climbs. You'll find reinforcement fabric along key abrasion areas of the garment and external pockets for your gear. This is expedition-quality protection for severe winter weather and high altitude conditions.

650-fill down insulation in a baffle construction

Marmot, marmot and marmot. It's the best winter jacket in the world. I have the one with the Gore-Tex, nothing comes close to that jacket. Not even my Spider jacket and it is good.

@MovieCompoundBoat It's a great jacket, but not the best down jacket in it's class... perhaps the best for the price. This jacket weighs 793g (1.75 lbs) with 650 fill for $175. I have a North Face Elysium Jacket which is a newer model so it costs a bit more $249 (currently $149 on sale), but it's warmer with 700 fill, much more water repellent, and at just 380g (.83lbs) is weighs less than half what the Sub Zero does. The significant drop in weight is always a bonus regardless of activity.

@vanzakram1969 Yes, you can wash any down product but you need to buy specific down detergent (regular detergent is too harsh), and you need to use a large front loading washer and drier. I have super large front-load washer and driers specifically for washing all my down gear (there's many other advantages as well). If you don't have such a washer/drier, then go to a nice laundry mat. Wash the jacket, run it in a 2nd rinse cycle. When you dry it, throw in some tennis balls., use low heat.
