On the occasion of the anniversary of the Dee Valley line's 1964 closure to passengers, the Railway received a visit from one of Jessie's many younger sisters. The "Austerity" was developed from the earlier type by fitting larger wheels, a full-length tank and slightly modified exhaust, and of course by simplifying various structural parts for quicker manufacture. Result - one right gradely Yorkshire design classic!
No 3777 does a good job of impersonating a grimy J94, only the raised bunker and an extra handrail being needed.
I didn't notice the young man's platform acrobatics until I downloaded the sequence. Fortunately, he and his camera appeared to be none the worse. :-) Be careful around trains, kids - they're big, heavy, hard and not at all forgiving.
Not at all funny, the lad was very close to falling off the platform and rolling under the engine (I was very close to the incident). Yet another example of parents not being aware of the dangers near railways.

@gasfiredsteam I wondered whether to post the clip, and how to pitch it. Station staff to whom I showed it next day were both amused by the spectacle and relieved at the happy outcome, and, like all of us, baffled as to what the parents were thinking. The consensus was that it should be shown as a warning of how dangerous a crowded platform can be. What If the lady photographer hadn't stepped to the right? Presenting it to TV would get it a wider audience, but would it be a public service?

@gasfiredsteam As a matter of interest, what (of a printable nature, of course) was said at the scene?

Do they still make 'You've been framed'? If so, I think you're on to a winner there!

@tractor255 Hmmm, yes, I wonder... Would the performers give permission, if I could find them? As it stands, its just a historical record. :-))
