An old song performed on my "teardrop" mountain dulcimer, with a simple guitar backing.

  • What an excellent interpretation of such a simple melody. I'd love to hear your take on"Go tell aunt Rhody".

How are your strings tuned, what kind of strings are you using, and where is your instrument from?

  • I'm using the DD-A-A tuning (the 1st string is doubled up). The instrument was made for me by Dave Sewell, an instrument maker in Baltimore. :-)

  • Is that how your supposed to play that instrument?

  • It's one way. The more traditional way is to use a piece of dowel to fret the strings and pluck them with a goose feather. I prefer to use fingering - and you'll see both styles on YouTube. :-)

  • great sound on the dulcimer, what about weissenborns? will we see any videos of you playing one in the future?

  • I don't think I have cash (or time) to add one of those to my collection - not yet, at any rate! :-)
