  • Very awesome idea for a workbench! I like how you modified the MOTs for the supply. It will be neat to see the complete setup (and videos on progress). Will the bench also include your amplifier, reel-to-reel, etc? Perhaps built-in speakers with an amp for it as a bench amp? And do you ever plan to use breadboards? I never see you use breadboards!

  • @CassetteMaster I haven't thought about putting amplifiers and things like that on it, I'm going to keep those on my shelf, it's just a case of finding some good wood (there are plenty of places round here that have off-cuts just laying around so I take it when no-one is looking), I might get a breadboard one day, the only reason I dont use them is becuase most of the parts I use are salvaged from old cuicuit boards, I wouldn't be able to get the leads into the holes.

  • Be careful with those transformers, make sure they don't get hot after being on for about 20minutes. 2, almost 3 amps is a lot of idle current

  • @Kankki1 The transformenr will be run trough another one to ballast it, I can cut the amperage down to at least half doing it that way.

  • You sure you have enough space in your bedroom for that new workbench?

  • @Alex1M6 I may have to move a few things around but I've got it all comming together in my head, I just need to find some wood and then I can start.

  • @CoolDudeClem Makes sense. One thing you could do if you do want to use a breadboard is solder on longer leads to the short-leaded components.

  • @CoolDudeClem Shame you don't live anywhere near me, we have plenty of wood in the garage that has not been touched for years that you could have.

    I guess its a trip to the local woods with an axe then? ( ;

  • @1710WL When or if I get more test equipment I'll just add a layer to the bench, I'm trying to conceal all the wires.

  • I have an idea if you don't have enough space in your room. You could build a bed construct where the bed is above the workbench. A little space by the bed with a TV and alarm-clock, the bench below. That's how my setup is.

  • looks good, you should time-lapse you building it.

  • Thanks
