This mini-documentary outlines what I did during my Vipassana mediation experience. It took me nearly 3 years to post this, but I figured if there are people interested in trying it for themselves one day then they may appreciate it. Part 1 is more theory-based, while Part 2 describes more about my day-to-day life within the program.

The reason why this bothers me is because its a cult. I am open, thats why I looked into this and here are 3 sites that support what I found:

    harmanjit.blogspot .com/2007/07/critique-of-vipassana-as-taught-by-mr-s.html

    youtube .com/watch?v=lkqFvD9ufKw

    sensit.wordpress. com/2009/12/13/critique-of-goenkas-vipassana-meditation-by-harmanjit-singh/

You decide for yourself, I have made my decision. And fuck you for call me close-minded, seriously go fuck yourself.

  • @mBlackFly why are you spreading negativity? It's gross. Your very intensity to be "right" is strange. I hope you can develop the ability to let things go, if you can, then you are not showing it well here at all. Who cares what others choose to do, if it is causing no harm it shouldn't bother you. I believe Ben Harper said that. Have a good life dude.

  • I've done two of these retreats and have had friends that have done several more. The reason that the minimum retreat is ten days is because it is exceedingly difficult for people to change, and ten days of intense meditation allows for just enough change to see results. I went back to school after my second retreat, had remarkable bliss, but more importantly, a more objective way of viewing proactive difficulty. I graduated in the top 1% of my class.

  • @MsBob314 Thanks for bringing up the increase in objectiveness. That is one thing I wish I had added to my replies above. Vipassana is a great exercise to develop more objectivity in ones life. It is not to say we are not emotional beings still, but seeing things simply for what they are before generating a reaction is huge.

  • I have completed one of Goenkaji's retreat three years back and still practise regularly. It has helped me grow and change into a much harmonious and peaceful person. Thank you, Mr. Mzaremba1 for sharing your video, you have explained it very well and I hope it helps and encourage people to practise :) Much Metta!!

  • @mBlackFly I don't know about this course but you might give Yuttadhammo's 6 video series on how to perform insight meditation. He teaches meditation not

  • @findlaymcarthur I am relatively new to this but it is my understanding that walking meditation prepares your mind for sitting meditation. Also it's very difficult to do just sitting meditation. The person who said yes we do eating meditation and toilet meditation sounded like he was describing mindfulness not certain meditation techniques. We don't have too much time to figure this out(I am 39) so I want on the right path, do u have any advise?

  • @findlaymcarthur Taped discourse keeps it pure they say so I wonder what they did before tape players.

  • Did you do walking meditation before sitting meditation?

  • OK I am drawing an analogy of easy ,cheap ,accessible, mass produced and commercialised but not very nutritious food outlets like Macdonalds .But hey if your starving a macburger is very fine and maybe you will be encouraged to progress to find something better.

A formal walking meditation period should be included and the talks should be live by trained and trusted teachers.Namaste.

  • @findlaymcarthur and as an old student you should know that whenever you are not sitting, you should be practising 'walking meditation'.. or eating meditation, or toilet meditation, or any activity you do should be with the understanding of anicca etc.
